Marceline to Magic Kingdom, Our Crisis, and the Last Day of Flower and Garden

May 30

Bright and early in the Magic Kingdom!

I headed to Magic to do the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour.

I only got these 2 pictures from that day, but I learned so many things!

Here are just some of my favorite things that I learned:

  1. Walt Disney dressed up as Abraham Lincoln in grade school. He memorized the whole Gettysburg Address and recited all throughout the school. That is one of the things that influenced Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln which turned into the Hall of Presidents.
  2. The Haunted Mansion was designed mostly by 2 separate Imagineers. The first half is supposed to be scarier while the second half is supposed to be more fun and light-hearted. Madame Leota is the middle of the ride.
  3. The Winchester Mystery House influenced certain aspects of the Haunted Mansion.
  4. Scrim is used in many different scenes in the Haunted Mansion. It is used in the hallway scene so that the guests don't see their reflection in the mirror that makes the hallway seem very long.
  5. There is a hidden Mary Blair doll on every Small World. Next time you ride the one in Magic Kingdom, look underneath the Eiffel Tower, and you will see her!
  6. The top right picture is a picture of the first scene in the Carousel of Progress. The robins that are in the scene were used in the "Spoonful of Sugar" scene in Mary Poppins!
  7. There is a hidden cat in every scene.
  8. **YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO KNOW THIS!!** In the Christmas scene, John (the dad) doesn't have any legs. He is just half of an animatronic, and if you sit in the right seat, you can see it in the reflection of the appliances (when I find the seat, I'll let you know).
I learned so many other things, and we even got to go backstage at the Haunted Mansion. I got to see how the ballroom scene works, and it was SO COOL to see!

May 31

Today, Sarah and I had our mid-program crisis.

We have to leave in 2 months, and we really don't want to...

June 3

Sarah and I headed to EPCOT to celebrate the last day of Flower and Garden. We took pictures in front of the Guardians wall and ate some more festival food.

Until next time Flower and Garden!
